Drum pump

Apoorva Valves provide the best quality high Drum pump that as well provides a level of performance and satisfaction but in a design tailored for your specific application. A drum pump is also called a Barrel pump. The system of the Drum pump has proven its worth in the field of pumps for decades and is right for a good number of applications as well as manufacturing branches. It is also known as a rod pump or submersible pump.

How does a drum or barrel pump work?

Liquids used in manufacturing and processing plants are delivered in barrels and are too heavy to tip up to empty the liquids safely. Drum pumps allow the transfer of media from containers such as these safely and efficiently.

Drum pumps comprise a motor segment, an immersion tube, and the pump section. The motor sits on top of the immersion tube on the outer of the container. The immersion tube – which is as long as the container is deep – fits through, and is often sealed to, an opening on the top of the container. The pump section is positioned within the lower end of the immersion tube. The pump is driven from the other end of the immersion tube, using an extended shaft protected by a conserved column. The pumped liquid flows between the sleeve and the tube to the discharge port at the motor end of the immersion tube.

Before buying a pump you should become familiar with the pump in order to carry out maintenance independently.  By means of a bore in our pump housing at Apoorva Valves, the medium basically also reaches the inner tube of the drum pump. In the inner tube, thus, the liquid level is always the same as in the drum or the container to be emptied. When emptying the drum with our drum pumps, the medium level in the drum and that in the inner pipe sink evenly.

The main benefit of a Barrel pump is that it reduces the several risks that occur from the manual treatment of containers: injuries, chemical splashing and leaks, and toxic fumes. Drum pumps are lightweight and portable, and therefore easy to transfer between containers. Specialty pumps include drum packages, flap valve pumps, powder transfer pumps, high-pressure pumps, sanitary transfer pumps, centrifugal dewatering pumps, and fuel transfer pumps.
